GEMSTONE – E3MO

E3MO focuses on improving energy efficiency and optimizing manufacturing processes for the industrial partner. The objective is to develop a set of energy optimization tools that integrate an advanced digital twin, using reduced-order models and self-learning capabilities through the moving horizon estimation (MHE) technique to achieve more accurate production optimization.

This toolset will be integrated into the Building Management System (BMS) to dynamically optimize the production process. The optimization model will be developed after exploring different statistical and machine learning models, selecting the most suitable option to maximize plant efficiency based on various production parameters such as line speed, temperature, and pressure.

E3MO is a 10-month project starting from TRL 4 and aiming to reach TRL 5. To demonstrate this progression, specific module verification activities and numerical evaluation of project objectives and KPIs will be carried out.
