Gear-Up

GEAR-UP addresses the challenge of digitalizing the mechanical gear transmission sector in Spain, a key field in industries such as steelmaking, energy, automotive, and aerospace. This sector faces a lack of technological capabilities compared to mass production in Asia, as well as the absence of high value-added ecosystems for high-performance applications.

The project proposes the creation of a Digital Development Environment (DDE) that integrates engineering, manufacturing, traceability, cost management, zero-defect policies, and digital tools, ensuring interoperability and efficiency throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Through this approach, GEAR-UP aims to enable more competitive, durable, and energy-efficient transmissions, reducing material use, minimizing carbon footprint, and laying the foundations for a new generation of high-performance gears. This vision will position Spain as an international benchmark in the sector, aligning industrial competitiveness with energy transition and sustainability goals.
