DECODIT

DECODIT develops digital services to help citizens navigate the energy transition through personalized and comparable proposals. It facilitates decision-making through tools with natural language interfaces, accessible even to users with low energy literacy. The project also unlocks financing through data-driven loan subscription models. Its results will be demonstrated in four European countries with different contexts.

Executive summary:

The energy transition of households towards the EU decarbonization targets involves many options and choices; the average citizen cannot easily navigate this complex landscape and identify the best solutions for their needs. Professionals providing relevant services face substantial costs when tailoring their services to individual potential clients due to the lack of essential data from real households. DECODIT will develop digital services to support citizens in making decisions to participate in the energy transition through co-created services and customer journeys. DECODIT will provide tools that clearly present concrete, personalized, and comparable propositions to citizens for future-proofing their homes, based on federated and data-driven services from multiple and diverse service providers. In this way, citizens will be able to compare and select the options that best suit their specific situation and personal needs through applications that support natural language interfaces, enabling citizens with low energy or digital literacy to benefit. Additionally, DECODIT will facilitate the financing of selected interventions through cross-cutting, data-driven loan subscription approaches that reduce barriers to entry for capital providers, thereby unlocking consumer investment in home improvements. DECODIT will contribute to shaping the smart energy landscape with critical enablers such as enabling business models and improved market and regulatory conditions. The project results will be demonstrated in four European countries (Latvia, Spain, Greece, Switzerland), which differ significantly in terms of building characteristics, cultural and regulatory frameworks, climate conditions, economic capabilities, and more. Pilot activities will be carried out under the supervision of market actors covering the value chain necessary for exploitation (energy providers, ESCOs, DSOs, and energy communities).

R2M’s role:

Our role in the DECODIT project focuses on dissemination and exploitation. As leaders of Work Package 7, we are responsible for defining innovative business models and designing strategies for the exploitation of the project results. This includes developing a replication plan and creating business strategies that ensure the sustainability of the solutions.
